About the firm.

Tengwar was founded in 2026 by a small group of private equity operators and engineers from frontier technology companies, with more than fifty years of combined experience across investing, operating, and shipping software at scale.

The founding team has sat on both sides of the table — running value creation inside sponsor portfolios and building the systems that move enterprise value at the operating company. Tengwar exists because that pairing is rare, and because the firms currently selling AI to private equity are either model vendors with an obvious incentive or generalist consultancies without the engineering depth to ship anything that survives the first quarter after handoff.

Tengwar is the writing system devised by Fëanor in Tolkien’s legendarium — letters designed to encode any language with precision. We took the name because the work is the same: encoding the operating knowledge of a business into systems that endure beyond any one engagement.
